The Piglet, the Sheep, and the Goat

A young pig was shut up in a fold-yard with a goat and a sheep. On one occasion when the shepherd laid hold of him, he grunted and squeaked and resisted violently. The sheep and the goat complained of his distressing cries, saying,  'He often handles us, and we do not cry out.' The pig replied, 'Your handling and mine are very different things. He catches you only for your wool, or your milk, but he lays hold on me for my very life.'

The Frogs and The Well

Two Frogs lived together in a marsh. But one hot summer the marsh dried up, and they left it to look for another place to live in: for frogs like damp places if they can get them. By and by they came to a deep well, and one of them looked down into it, and said to the other, 'This looks a nice cool place: let us jump in and settle here.' But the other, who had a wiser head on his shoulders, replied, 'Not so fast, my friend: supposing this well dried up like the marsh, how should we get out again?'

The Wind and The Sun

One day the wind and the sun were disputing which was the stronger. Suddenly they saw a traveler coming down the road, and the sun said: “I see a way to decide our dispute. Whichever of us can cause that traveler to take off his cloak shall be regarded as the stronger. You begin.” So the sun got behind a cloud. And the wind began to blow as hard as it could upon the traveler. But the harder he blew the more closely did the traveler wrap his cloak round him, till at last the wind had to give in despair. Then the sun came out and shone in all his glory upon the traveler, who soon found it too hot to walk with his cloak on.
